Page5@Conrods and Crankshaft
Conrods are(Weaver needs only one)planed to be made from gauge plate. But it is
too hard to turn out. I made it from duralmin.
I have made many failures.
Crankshaft needs lap. I have never done before.
First I used Carborandum( I could not get diamond lap)and aluminum lap.
Aluminum lap has same solidity as crankcase journal.
After lap, under the bright sunshine, I could find something inside the
journal. I thought that it was the lap which got stuck into the journal.
I made lap by acrylic bar. It went well.
And I made crankshaft just fit to the journal.
I had to to trial and error many times.
Next stage is turning out of clank pin.
To center the mandrel for it, I used stainless steel bar and dial indicator.
The crankshaft and the mandrel.
