今回はフロントカバーです。曲面があるのでCNCが欲しいところです。前後と長手の協調作業が出来るほどの技量がありませんので座標と作業時間でカバーしました。

This time I made front cover. I wish I had CNC. I have not, so I covered it by time and hand work.

まず穴あけから。 切断長さをぎりぎりにしたため一部バンドーソーの切削痕が残っています。 これ以上端面削りをしてしまうと厚みが不足します。 切削痕部分は中ぐりしてしまうので大丈夫です。 First step is drilling with DRO. You can find some scratch by band saw but it will be turned off.

複式刃物台を４５°傾けて中繰りをしています。 Turning inside of the front cover.

中ぐり作業が終了しました。 Inside turning is finished

ヤトイにセットして外径切削をします。 Outside turning on the fixture.

直線部分の切削が終わりました。 これから円弧切削です。 Straight turning is finished. Now I start to turn the curved portion.

円弧切削用の図面です。 これだけではミスをしそうなので表も作りました。 ここまで準備したのですが表に転記ミスをしてしまいました。 このミスに気づかずに作業してフロントベアリングの円弧は完全な1/4円になりませんでした。 図面の段階でのミスは致命的です。 如何に図面に忠実に作るかに全ての神経を集中していますから。 This is the drawing for turning the curve. I made another table When I made that table I misscopied the figure. According to that table, I turned the front cover. The curved portion did not have complete arch. Mistake on the drawing or table is fatal because I concentrated to make it exactly according to that drawing.

段削りが終わりました。 ピッチが１mmから０．5mmに途中で変えてはあるのですがそれでも何か違和感を感じました。 よーく見直して表の誤りに気がつきました。 目は鋭いです。 Step turning was finished. I felt something wrong at that steps. I checked the table again and found the mistake. It was too late and the feeling is accurate.

ヤスリを使ってひたすら段差を削り落とします。おおむね段差が消えました 上の状態からここまで３０分くらいでした。 完全に段差が消えたら後は耐水サンドペーパーで仕上げます。 File off the steps. It took only 30 minutes to do it. Then I used wet and dry sandpaper.

完成しました。 完全な1/4円弧ではないですが滑らかな曲線に出来ましたので良しとします。 Completed. It has not accurate 1/4 arch but has smooth curve. So I permitted myself.
