engine standの続きです。
研磨でまたまた非常に苦労してしまいました。

I still make the engine stand.
It took very long and hard time to polish it.

前回、ディスクグラインダーで仕上げのバフがけが非常に能率よくできたのに気をよくして、
今回はその前の段階の研磨作業もディスクグラインダーでトライしてみようと考えました。

ネット上にはいろいろ情報がありますが、どれが最適なのかわかりません。
仕方ないのでいろいろなものを買ってみました。

比較ができるように全部＃２４０にしました。
左上のユニロンディスクだけは次の段階の研磨で使うつもりで＃３２０にしてあります。


As in former engine stand, it was very effective to use disk grinder ,
I tried to use it in filing.

On the web, I could find many informations about it, but I could not know what is most suitable.
So I prepared some disks.

Left upper one is for next stage and another 3 are all #240
マイルドテクノという製品で研磨した後です、
少し荒いような気がしました。


The surface seems to be slightly rough.
セラディスクステンレス用というので研磨した後です。
なんとなくこれが一番きれいな感じがしたのでこれで全体を研磨しました。

I thought that this one is best.
ところがです。
なんとなく小さな傷っぽいのが見えるので＃１２０の布ペーパーで手研磨してみました。
何とこんな悲惨な状態であることが判明。


But.
I found a little change of light reflex, so I polished with #120 sand paper by hand.
I revealed many scars!
他の所も同じ。
きさげ掛けならいいのですが、鏡面仕上げをしたいのです。

Same in another part.
It was not scraping, I want mirror finish.
ディスクグラインダーが使いやすかった場所でもこんな感じ。

The part where I could use the disk grinder easily, but the result is almost same.
結局＃１２０の布ペーパーで延々と凸凹が消えるまで手研磨しました。
一か所２０分から３０分。毎晩毎晩ごしごし１週間。
はじめから全部手研磨のほうがはるかに速かったようです。
　その後
＃２４０、＃３２０、サイザー４６０研磨剤を使ってサイザルバフがけ、赤棒＆フエルトバフがけ。

ひたすら研磨の一週間でした。

I used #240 sand paper with my hand to erase these scars for long long time.
It took 20 to 30 minutes for one part.
I polished every night for a week.

Then I polished with buff.
やっと何とか完成にこぎつけました。


その後研磨についていろいろ検索しました。

アマチュアのサイトはどこも割と簡単にうまくできるように書いていますね〜。
そしてプロの方はあまり書いていません。

どうにか見つけたサイトでは

ただ削るだけのことなんですが、これがまた奥が深いんです。
不要な部分だけを削り、母体には傷をつけないようにする繊細な仕上がりが求められます。

ステンレスを削る場合は特に注意を！
少しでもえぐったら光の具合ですぐにわかってしまいます。

母材の状況を確認しながら削れるようになるのに5年はかかると思いますが、地道に指導しています。

やっぱりねー。あっという間に研磨できるということは非常に研削力が強い。
ちょっと大目に当たればアウトなわけです。
よく考えれば(ほんのちょっと考えれば)すぐにわかることです。
自分に都合の良いところ(ささっと仕上げられる)だけを選択してしまいました。

きつい一週間でした。

I could reach the goal.
Then I searched the web site about stainless steel polishing.
Many armatures wrote that it is not so difficult and emphasized about convenience of it and not wrote about the defects.

And I finally reached the site that was wrote by professional, and he said

Only polishing but it is very deep world
We had to file out where it must be file out and we did not file where it must not be filed.
It needs fine techique.

You must be very careful especially in polishing stainless steel.
If you would make a very small scar, it will be found very easily.

It will take at least 5 years to be an expert to polish with considering the condition of the base.


It is not so easy, I found.
