今回はシーラスエンジンの写真です。オーストラリアのライスさんが送ってくれました。
"Kookaburra"(ワライカワセミ）という名前の飛行機に積まれていたエンジンだそうです。
１９２９年砂漠に墜落し、つい数年前発見されたそうです。オーストラリア、アリススプリング（エアーズロックの近く）の航空博物館に展示されているそうです。
送ってくれたライスさんは若いころこの飛行機に乗っていたことがあるそうです。
また日本の「学研」の仕事もしていたことがある親日家です。
This time I show the pictures of old Cirrus send by Mr. Charles Rice from
Australia.
This engine was on the airplane named "Kookaburra" and crashed
1929 on the desert and found a couple of years ago.
This engine is displayed at Alice Springs Aircraft Museum near Ayers Rock(Uluru)
in Australia.
Mr. Charles Rice flew this type of airplane when he was young.
 ディストリビュータがかなり大きいです。キャブレターとつながっているように見えますが、どうなっているんでしょう。 キャブの外側にある棒（パイプ）はなんでしょう。 オイルパンからつながっているのでロッカーアームを潤滑するオイル経路でしょうか。 Distributor is larger than I expected. What is the pipe running along the push rod and out side the carburetor? |
 マフラーの形もSICの図面とは違うようです。Zimmermannのオリジナル図面をアメリカ、ジェームズさんから送ってもらったのですがその図面にはこれに似たタイプの排気管がオプションで書かれていました。 Exhaust pipe is deferent from the drawings in SIC. I got the original drawings of Zimmermann from Mr. James Lee in USA, and in that drawings I can see this type of exhaust pipe in option. |
 ８０年近く砂漠に転がっていた割にはきれいです。すごい乾燥地帯なんですね。 It is clean for staying almost 80 years in the desert. Desert, what a dry space it is! |
 ヘッドの赤茶けた色は砂漠の砂？シリンダーヘッドの形状はSICの図面と大分違います。スタッドボルトが細く見えます。 Reddish brown on the head may be desert sand. The shape of the head is deferent from the drawings. Stud bolts seem thin. |
